Myitkyina (Northern Part Of Myanmar)
Myitkyina, the capital of Kachin State is situated in the north of Myanmar and between the confluence of river Maykha and Malikha, and this confluence is the source of Ayeyarwaddy river. Myitkyina can be reached by air from Yangon by Air Bagan Airways and which takes 2 1/2 hours via Mandalay. It can also be reached by train from Mandalay and it will take 26 hours. The highly attractive sightseeing views of Myitkyina are the snow capped mountains, the green and lush forests. A place of tourist attraction in Myitkyina is Myitsone, located 45 km, north of Myitkyina. Inndawgyi Lake and Jade mine is a night stop tour and Waingmaw is a day tour from Myitkyina.

Myeik (Mergui) (Southern Part of Myanmar)
Myeik or Mergui Archipelago, an immense area that covers approximately 36,000 sq km (14,000 sq miles), located at the southern part of Myanmar in the Tanintharyi Region. It consists of more than 800 beautiful islands. Due to its virtual isolation, the islands and surrounding seas are alive with an amazing diversity of flora & fauna and very beautiful underwater scenes and marine life. The only human inhabitants in this area are sea gypsies, namely Salon (Moken) in Myanmar. They live on boats during dry season and remain on land during rainy season. They still practice the same fishing and boat building techniques used for generation. The islands are rugged, unspoiled terrestrial scenery, high-profile limestone and granite topography. The vast majority are uninhabited and largely untouched by humans. Dense brush and rainforest cover most areas above the high-tide line, while vast stretches of mangroves and magnificent white-sand beaches are interspersed with rocky headlands, tidal creeks and a few freshwater rivers. Liveaboard cruise is the way for visitors to reach diving areas with names such as Big Bank, Rainbow Reef or Silvertip Bank. The best diving conditions in Myanmar exist from December to April. Visitors can take speed boat to Kawthaung and leave from Kawthaung to Ranoung (Thailand) by permission.
Capital of Tanintharyi Division is the southern most administrative region in the country. Adjacent to Mon State to the north and Thailand to the east. Tanintharyi Division occupies a long narrow coastal plain bounded by the Andaman Sea in the east, which runs to Kawthaung, the most southerly point of Myanmar and which then continues to the Malaya Peninsula. The coast is dotted with islands including the Heinze group, the Maung-Magan group and the Mergui or Mergui Archipelago, which comprises more than 800 beautiful and attractive islands. A port of medium importance and tropical seaside town, 618 km south of Yangon. The Maungmagan beach is now being developed and upgraded is just 13 km northwest and is famous for delicious seafood. Native speak Myanmar Language but with a strong dialect, which is similar to Mergui. The most venerated pagodas are the Shin Motehti Pagoda, Shin Datweh Pagoda in the north and Shin Maw Pagoda on the Dawei promontory. A 243-foot long reclining Buddha image occupies the Lawka Tharaphu Pagoda. In the 18th Century a group of Dawei people known as Inthas or people of the Inle Lake, migrated to Inle to avoid the continual conflicts between the Myanmar and Thai. Thus the Inthas appeared in Inle Lake in the southern Shan State. It can be reached by air From Yangon. Visitors can take speed boat to Kawthaung and leave from Kawthaung to Ranoung (Thailand) by permission.
Kawthaung is the southern most trip of Myanmar and 800 km from Yangon itself. Kawthaung retains the atmosphere of a fishing village. Visitors can enjoy cruise tours along the Mergui archipelago which takes about one week. There are regular flights from Yangon to Kawthaung and Five Star Shipping Line operates a cruise vessel to Kawthaung. It takes about 25 minutes boat ride from Kawthaung to Ranong, a border town in Thailand. Nowadays, the cruise Andaman Club Resort, which occupies the 700 hectare Thahtay Kyun, runs a well patronized casino and offers visitors duty-free shopping with prices that gives duty-free shops elsewhere a run for their money. Located on a hilltop with panoramic view of Kawthaung, the resort is the only sign of habitation on the rocky island.
KENG TONG (KYAING TONG) & ENVIRONS
Keng Tong ( Kyaing Tong ) (Eastern part of Myanmar)
Keng Tong is known for its trekking program to villages of many colourful enthnic tribes. Ethnic tribes can be differentiated by colourful dresses and travelers can observe their tribal dances and ways of living. The tribes known as Gon, Lwe, Li, Wa, Lah Hu, Thai Nay, Shan, Li Shaw, Li Su, Palaung and Akha. It is situated in the Eastern Shan State and its about an hour flight from Heho and by land 452 km from Inle Lake but not allowed to travel by road at the moment and 170 km away from Tachileik opposite Mae Sai ( Thailand ). Keng Tong is 1200 meter above sea level and is surrounded by beautiful forests and mountains. The tour can start from Yangon or Heho or Mandalay. Although a trip to Keng Tong must be regarded as an adventure tour, the area is of great interest for visitors interested in experiencing a completely different side of Myanmar.
Tachileik (The Golden Triangle Town)
Tachileik, located on the Myanmar – Thai border in the eastern Shan State, is being upgraded as a gateway to the heart of the Golden Triangle, 163 km south of Kyaing Tong . The Friendship Bridge across the small Mae Sai stream links Tachileik with the northern Thai border town of Mae Sai. The area is currently being developed for tourism and cross-border trade with Laos, Thailand and China. One can fly direct from Yangon to Tachileik in an hour. This can be done the combination trip of Myanmar with Thailand, Laos or Cambodia land route. Entering Tachileik from Mae Sai and link to Keng Tong, Inle, Mandalay and Bagan, then conclude the trip in Yangon, can be done.
MRAUK U & ENVIRONS
Mrauk U (Western part of Myanmar)
One of the best archaeological site as attraction is situated in Rakhine State, on the South-Western part of Myanmar. It is founded by the Rakhine King Minsawmon in 1433 AD. Mrauk U period flourished between 15th century and 18th century ancient city of the Rakhine Kingdom. The city is 80 km from the north of Sittwe, port city once known as the Golden Gate by the west. Mrauk U can be reached from Sittwe through a very pleasant river journey about 4 hours. Mrauk U is famous for its old temples with wall paintings of Indian cultural influence. The temples and Pagodas are strategically located on the hilltops and look like fortresses. There are many countless Images spreading all over with some are in ruins and influenced by Indian culture and civilization. Shitthaung Temple, Kothaung Temple, Anndawthein, Laungbonpyauk, Dukkhanthein, and Pitakataik are famous ancient Temples with countless stupas.
Sittwe is the capital of Rakhine State. It is situated at South West of Myanmar at Rakhine Coast. It has a long coasting bordering on the Bay of Bengal. There are a view point to be enjoy along the coast. Culture and traditional heritage and colourful Rakhine races are filled in Sittwe. Regular flights From Yangon to Sittwe takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is also the gate way to Mrauk U, an ancient city of Rakhine Kingdom.
ECO - TOURISM SNOW PEAKED MOUNTAIN & PHOE KYAR ELEPHANTS CAMP & ALAUNGDAW KASSAPA
Snow Peaked Mountain
Situated in the north of Myitkyina, the capital city of Kachin state, not far from the Mount Khaka Bo Razi (5889 meter, which is the highest mountain in Myanmar and in Southest Asia), can be reached only by air route. The city surrounded with snow peaked mountains and the weather is cold around the year. Flora and Fauna can be seen in the forest around Putao. The suspension bridges are the typical river crossing in this region. People of the Rawan, Lisu, Khamti-Shan, Jingphaw and Kachin are represented in the region. It can be reached from Myitkyina by air about 30 minutes and only Air Bagan Airline is available.
Phoe Kyar Elephants Camp
"Phoe Kyar Camp" is an Eco Tourism Camp situated in East Bago division, near Thagara which is just 205 miles away from Yangoon, north of Taungoo and at the base of Bago Plateau. It is a very special places especially to study elephant's behavior and nature. In this elephant camp, you can ride an elephant in the forest. There is a lot to study birds, wild animals, plants and flowers as nature conservation study.
Alaungdaw Kassapa National Park is situated in Sagaing Division and in the list of ASEAN Heritage Park. The park is 1608 km square wide and preserve elephants, tigers, golden deer and endanger species of bird and butterfly. Alaungdaw Kassapa Park was established in 1941 and announced as a National Park in1984.
Chin Hill and Mt.Victoria
The Chin live in the Northwest border areas or further south in the Rakhine State. Mt.Victoria of 3400 meter high is the perfect place for nature lovers. It is one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia. Mt.Victoria (Natmataung) is an excellent place and soft trekking, butterfly and bird watching are available. Some of the women there tattoo their faces completely in tasteful designs. The ritual is entirely voluntary and as the practice is dying out, not many young women are seen with tattooed faces. But the old traditional of this tattooing face still can be seen in some villages. 174km from Bagan by jeep and roads are still very bad so this excursion is not recommended for rainy season (May to Oct). As for accommodations, only very simple guesthouses are available so this excursion is suitable only for the adventurous clients.
